Cilento
Cilento – Culture, history and wunderful coast!
Cilento – hiking vacation
Time seems to have stood still along the legendary ‘Costa delle Sirene’ in the hinterland of the Cilento. This is the feeling you get when you visit the picturesque and quiet old villages. Here the life goes still according to tradition in a real sociable atmosphere while maintaining their identity. The coast is quite rocky with a view of a crystal clear sea that laps the shore. Its still wild beauty is synonymous with an imposing matriarchal nature. Bare rock ridges between small bays, fragrant pine forests that open to wide sandy beaches, mixed with rocks, real karst sculptures. The pines of Aleppo tower above the colorful undergrowth between the aromas of myrtle and mastic. Green euphorbias, fragrant gorse and large agaves grow over huge secular olive trees on the shore.
Cilento – Popular coast combined with nature and traditions!
Cilento in southern Italy is a dream region for Italy lovers with an original ambience and deep southern Italian traditions. Very popular especially by families with children due to its fine, wide sandy beaches combined with historical and cultural highlights such as the ancient Greek excavations of the temples of Paestum.
The picturesque fishing village of Acciaroli was first known from Hemingway’s visit in 1953 and is now one of the most popular seaside resorts on the coast. Agropoli, on the other hand, is a beautiful place with a medieval town center, located on a rock above the sea. Casalvelino in the heart of the Cilento, a gently sloping sandy beach, particularly suitable for families. The medieval village of Castellabate with its romantic character and dreamlike sandy beaches such as the seaside resorts of Santa Maria and San Marco di Castellabate are also popular.
Paestum
Ancient city from the Magna Graecia, called Poseidonia by the Greeks in honor of Poseidon, but dedicated to Athena and Hera. Gateway to the Cilento awaits with its majestic Greek temples. Certainly the best preserved Greek temples. An absolute must for every visitor to Italy.
This and much more is offered by this wonderful area with a great variety. Everything connected with a beautiful Campania round trip. Let us seduce you into this fabulous piece of earth!
Coast and beaches
Marina di Ascea and Terradura inspire above all with the 7 km long sandy beach and the excavations of the former Greek city of Elea. In Marina di Camerota with its picturesque fishing port, beautiful sandy beaches and bathing bays, the sea dominates the life of the residents. Numerous excursion options such as boat trips along the coast and to pristine beach bays are a big highlight, especially in the summer months. The medieval place in the Camerota mountainside is particularly characteristic for most visitors.
At the Palinuro Cape, the Cilento coast is at its best in terms of landscape. The limestone cliffs rising steeply from the sea rise imposingly. Dreamy bays and wide sandy beaches. The picturesque town center with a beautiful marina and great boat trips with the fishermen , the lampara, and food tasting in the picturesque bays. Not far away is Marina di Pisciotta, a small fishing village. Above the fishing port is the tranquil, picturesque village of Pisciotta on a hilltop above the sea.
In the Cilento, life takes a quieter pace, because here time seems to have stood still. Surrounded by untouched nature, a wonderfully relaxed holiday awaits you in holiday homes, apartment complexes, hotels and campsites.
